Recommended Wiring Harness For 2002 Chevrolet Silverado With No Towing Package
Question:
I have a 2002 Silverado 1500 WITHOUT a factory tow package,so there is a non terminated harness laying on top of the spare tire. There is no plug on the end to plug into Hopkins 30955. Do you offer the plug to put onto my factory harness so I can use it with the Hopkins 30955?

Since you do not have a towing package and you have the bundle of wires above your spare tire, you will need to hard-wire the adapter in place.
I recommend the Pollak 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector, part # HM40975-11998. You would need to test each of the wires above the spare tire with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 for function and hard wire it to the adapter. The yellow wire is the left turn and brakes, dark green wire is the right turn and brakes, brown wire is for the taillights, and white is the ground. Often if the loom is cut back, two more wires will be found. The light blue wire provides a lead for a camper shell brake light. The other, a light green wire, is for the reverse lights. I have attached a wiring chart that shows the color and function of the wires you can check out.
The 4-way and 7-way when plugs into the harness at the rear of your Silverado. The connector is actually what is found for OEM installation on vehicles now. Check out the attached installation video for this harness on a 2002 Silverado.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
