Parts Needed to Tow Popup Camper with 2015 Honda Odyssey

Question:

I am looking to add a hitch to a 2015 Honda Odyssey as I will be shopping around for a popup soon. I will need the e-brake and wiring kit as well for it. not sure what all will be needed? I saw there was a Honda wiring kit 118521, and then lots of options for brake controllers and wiring for them. for the hitch, class 3 and not sure if it comes with a connector or not? if you can help build a shopping list that wold be great. as it is just a single axel popup I am not going to need anything too fancy on the controller.

We have all the parts you will need to tow a small popup camper with your 2015 Honda Odyssey. The trailer hitches for your vehicle are rated for 3,500 pounds but you have to go by what the manufacturer states for your vehicle. If Honda states the vehicle can only tow 1,000 as indicated in the owners manual then you must abide by that rating even though the hitch is rated higher. Always go by the lower rating.

The most popular 2 inch hitch for a 2015 Honda Odyssey is Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75270. It has a capacity of 350 pounds tongue weight and 3,500 pound gross trailer weight.

To complete the towing set up you will want the Tow Ready wiring harness # 118521. This harness provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your Honda Odyssey to power your trailer's signal lights. For a brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha P3 # 90195. This brake controller activates your trailer brakes in proportion to your Honda Odyssey's braking action. You will also need a 7 way to the rear of your vehicle to activate your brakes. You will want part the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.

I also recommend the etrailer ball mount kit, # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag.
