Differences Between Swagman XC2 and XTC2 Bike Racks

Question:

Looking for a 2 bike rack for a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2 door. Do not want a wheel mount. What is the difference between the Swagman xtc2 and the xc2? Do either need an extension to get past the tire on the back? Any other recommendations for a hitch mount carrier for 2 bikes?

The main difference between the Swagman XC, part # S64650, and the Swagman XTC-2, part # S64670, is that the XTC-2 is capable of handling bikes with longer wheelbases, up to 66 inches, while the XC can handle bikes with a wheelbase up to 51-1/2 inches.

The XC has a shank rise of 4 inches, where the XTC-2 has a shank rise of 3 inches, which helps a bit when unloading and loading bikes. The XC can accommodate wheels up to 3-1/2 inches wide, while the XTC-2 can accommodate wheels up to 2-1/2 inches wide.

The XTC has a distance of 8 inches from the center of it's hitch pin hole to the closest wheel loop and the XC has a distance of 10-1/2 inches so it would have a bit more clearance to accommodate your spare tire. You would need to measure from the center of your hitch pin hole out to the furthest point on your spare tire to see which rack would fit.

I have attached links to product review videos for both of these racks you can check out.

To secure your carrier to the hitch and also secure the bikes to the carrier I recommend part # S64031. This kit includes both the locking hitch pin for the hitch and a cable that secures the bikes to the carrier. You can take a look at the attached video for this lock system if you wish.
