Air Ride King Pin Recommendation for Lippert 1621 and Short Bed Truck

Question:

I have a 2013 Fuzion 390 toyhauler and I am wondering what you guys would recommend for an air ride kingpin? The unit is fitted with a Lippert 1621. I am also wanting to see if the kingpin you recommend is different in length, so if you could provide a length that would be great. I could use a longer king pin as I am running a short bed truck. Thank you in advance for the info.

I recommend the Reese/5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin with Sidewinder # RP61422. This king pin is designed to have a weight capacity of 16,000 pounds. The sidewinder moves the pivot point back from the front of the king pin to the back. This allows you greater clearance when making tight turns. The front row to king pin measurement on this king pin is 19-1/4 inches, approximately 2 inches longer than your current king pin, but it also moves the pivot point back 22 inches.

When using a short bed truck with at least a 6 foot bed to pull a fifth wheel trailer, a sliding fifth wheel hitch is recommended as it allows you to make tight turns. If your truck has a bed shorter than 6 feet, a sidewinder with a standard fixed hitch is the best option. It is not recommended to use a sliding fifth wheel hitch and a sidewinder at the same time. The Reese Sidewinder would provide you with the best clearance, both on the road and when turning.
