Starting in mid year 2007 all the GM trucks quit offering the plug in connectors for brake controllers with a factory tow package, but they still have the wires under the dash for installing the Tekonsha P-3 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90195, on your 2009 GMC Yukon XL. The wires are identified by a white label and are located under the left side of the instrument panel to the left of the steering column.
These wires under your dash can be connected to the brake controller wires. I am sending a link to installing a brake controller on a 2007-2009 GM Full Size Truck/SUV which will show which color wire on your truck will attach to which color on the brake controller.
After you attach the wires under the dash and plug in your brake controller there are two more wires that are located under the hood that need to be connected. They are both red wires with black stripe and eyelets on them. The wires will connect with a M6 and a M8 nuts to threaded studs at the front of the fuse box. The M6 and M8 nuts have to purchased from a local auto parts store. Again the link I am sending will show that connection also.
I am also sending a link to the brake controller instructions.
