Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2005 Acura TL

Question:

Hey guys, I am always thankful for your expertise...I have a Yakima holdup 2 inch bike rack that I use on my van and was thinking of adding a receiver hitch to my 2005 Acura TL to use this rack as well. I am a draw tite fan and was thinking of a 24755 and an adapter to get me from the class 1 receiver to the hold-up 2. Any thoughts, comments, or reservations on this plan? Also, are there any anti-rattle products that could be used on the adapter to connect it to the hitch, as the rack has its own threading pin that would take care of it on the receiver end of the adapter. Thanks,

For a hitch the Draw Tite part # 24755 that you referenced would be an excellent choice as we are Draw Tite fans as well. It is a Class I hitch though so your Holdup that is for a 2 inch hitch is not going to work unfortunately. Hitch adapters end up cutting the capacity of the hitch they are used on in half so they aren't the best route either.

The Swagman XTC2, part # S64670 is one of the most popular Class I compatible racks because it's so easy to use, and because the rack has an angled shank that would raise the bike rack up by three inches providing additional ground clearance. Because of that, this is the rack I'd recommend for you. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch bolt, but a combination anti-rattle hitch lock/cable lock is available separately as part # S64031.
