According to my research, the OEM controller on your 2012 Ford truck is compatible with electric over hydraulic braking systems. You could use the Tekonsha P3, it's a great unit that works great and is very user friendly, but it's not necessary.
You'll need to either disable the existing surge coupler by putting a bolt through from side to side to prevent the coupler from compressing or replace it. You'll need to choose the appropriate replacement coupler based on the dimensions of the pole tongue, the needed capacity, and the diameter of the trailer ball. I've linked you to the replacement couplers we offer.
For an actuator, I'd recommend using the Cargo Towing Solutions HydraStar Brake Actuator, part # HBA16. You would also need a break away kit, part # 50-85-313.
As long as your current brake rotors, brake pads, calipers and brake lines are in good repair, you can certainly reuse them.
