Which 4 Bike Platform Rack is Better, The Swagman S64665 or the SportRack A30902
Question:
Im looking for a 4 bike platform rack, likely either the Swagman or Sportrack. My main concerns are 1 function 2 quality and durability and 3 durability of finish when left outdoors every day. Is one of these racks superior to the other in those areas? In your comparison, you say the base of the two racks is different. Which is sturdier over rough roads? Thank you

I would choose the Swagman S64665 over the SportRack part # A30902LR in this case, hands down. The Swagman base is a bit heavier. They are both steel racks, so they would not hold up as well as an aluminum rack would, but I think the Swagman finish will hold up better.
The biggest difference is the upright posts. The SportRack uses a tension knob that tightens a plastic clamp. The Swagman uses ratcheting hooks that lock into teeth along the uprights of the rack. People have trouble with over tightening the SportRack and damaging it. The ratcheting hooks on the Swagman are more worry free and are more secure for the bikes.
On top of this, the Swagman has a higher rating from our customers than the SportRack.
I would encourage you to remove the rack from the vehicle when you can and store it out of the weather. Storing it properly when not in use will simply add to the longevity of the rack.
Neither of these racks are to be used off road, so keep that in mind if that is what you meant about rough roads.
