Replacement King Pin Recommendation for Lippert 1116 and Short Bed Truck

Question:

I have a 2013 Fuzion 390 toyhauler and I am wondering what you guys would recommend for an air ride kingpin? I think the unit is fitted with a Lippert 1116 but I am not a 100 sure. I am also wanting to see if the kingpin you recommend is different in length, so if you could provide a length that would be great. I could use a longer king pin as I am running a shortbed truck. Thank you in advance for the info.

First, I recommend making sure that your pin box is a Lippert 1116. There should be sticker or label on your pin box with the manufacturer's name and model number. If you cannot find this information on your pin box, you will want to measure your pin box to ensure we find you the correct replacement or you can contact your trailer dealer with your VIN to obtain that information. I have attached an article on how to measure the pin box for you.

If you have a Lippert 1116 pin box, for a longer option, the Reese/Fifth Airborne Premium Fifth Wheel Air Ride King Pin with Sidewinder and Turret # RP61412 would work well for you. This king pin replacement moves the pivot point of the king pin back to allow you greater clearance in tight turns. This pin box is also the longest option, measuring 17-5/8 inches from the front row to the king pin.

When using a short bed truck to pull a fifth wheel trailer, a sliding fifth wheel hitch allows you to make tight turns. It is not recommended to use a sliding fifth wheel hitch and a sidewinder at the same time. The Reese Sidewinder would provide you with the best clearance, both on the road and when turning.
