Recommended Base Plates to Tow 2012 Ram 2500
Question:
I need the correct baseplate for my 2012 Ram 2500 4x4 diesel crew cab truck. It weighs just over 7,000 lbs. What do you recommend.

I recommend the Blue Ox base plates kit # BX1989. These base plates are custom designed to fit your Ram 2500. The hidden reinforcements and absence of a support beam provide a clean look when your vehicle is not being towed. For a tow bar I recommend the Blue Ox Avail, # BX7420. It is rated for up to 10,000 pounds and it includes safety cables.
For lighting, if you will not be towing the truck that often I recommend a magnetic lighting kit, # RM-2120. If you will be towing the truck often I recommend a more permanent kit such as # RM-154.
Most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot, # BLU37TR, proportional braking system. It applies the Ram brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
