Fifth Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Recommendation for a 2008 Chevy Silverado
Question:
My current setup is the wire/plug over the tailgate and plug in at the bumper. When turning tight near 90 degrees with the truck and fifth wheel the plug gets pulled out. Im not sure whether to go with a longer cable/plug up and over the tailgate to the bumper plug or use this wiring harness to install and plug in inside of the truck bed. My truck is a 2008 chevy Silverado 3500HD dually. The bed liner is a Rugged liner and does not set flush against the inside of the truck bed where I would mount this new plug. Sets off about 1/2 inch to an inch. What are your suggestions?

The common solution to your scenario would be to go with fifth wheel/gooseneck trailer wiring like the part # 41157 that you referenced. Since you have what sounds like a slide in bed liner that sets off of the truck bed you would need to trim out a section of the liner to allow the 7-way to mount.
I personally don't like the idea of a wiring harness making contact with painted surfaces like a tailgate, but going with a longer harness is one solution.
