Recommended Kayak Carrier for Roof Rack on 2016 Acura MDX
Question:
We will be getting a 2016 Acura MDX and I dont like the look of their kayak mount. Im looking for a mount that will carry 2 kayaks, one is 177, the other is about 155. I dont want to have to run tie down lines front and back, but want them held securely. Both boats are between 50-60 pounds so I would like a load assist.

I'd recommend going with a system like the Rhino-Rack Nautic, part # RR571. This allows the kayak to be loaded from the rear of the vehicle. The rear saddles are felt padded to allow the Kayak to slide easily into place, while the front saddles will grip the kayak, preventing it from sliding. You'll need two sets for two kayaks. The kits include straps for securing the kayaks to the roof rack, and bow/stern tie-downs are also included. It's highly recommended that bow/stern tie-downs be used on any load that extends past the front and rear of the vehicle roof.
The Nautic will fit roof crossbars up to 3-7/8 inches wide and 1-3/8 inches tall. You can see a product demonstration video by clicking the provided link.
You'll also need to make sure that your roof rack and the vehicle roof can handle the 100-120 lb weight of the kayaks.
