Expert Reply:
The Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier # TH898 will mount to almost all roof rack crossbar shapes, including round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars. However, this carrier does require that you have 4 to 8-inches of crossbar that extend out past the rack's legs. This space is needed to ensure sufficient clearance between the vehicle and carrier when it is in the extended loading position. If your 2014 Mini Countryman has this type of roof rack on it, then you should be ready to mount your Hullavator Pro.
You'll want to check your Mini owner's manual for any guidance regarding roof weight limit to ensure the combined 40-lb weight of the carrier plus that of your kayak remains within the car's capacity.
