Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2011 Lincoln MKT
Question:
Can you recomend the correct hitch and wiring harness for a 2011 MKT w/o ecoboost. I would like to trailer a 1957 TBird weighing 3050 lbs not including the trailer which I dont have as yet...Im not even sure if the MKT is rated to tow anything of this size.

I checked the owner's manual for the 2011 Lincoln MKT and found that it has a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 pounds when using a Class III trailer hitch. However, all of the Class III trailer hitches available for your vehicle are rated for a maximum of 4,000 pounds so you would be limited to 4,000 pounds.
Make sure the trailer you use weighs less than 950 pounds. Otherwise you will be over the hitch capacity.
The recommended trailer hitch for your 2011 MKT without EcoBoost is # C13000. I have linked at installation instructions for you. For trailer wiring you can use # C56095.
I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
