Choosing Universal or Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit for 2006 Ford F-250
Question:
I have a 06 f250 that has all ready had a universal kit installed and the frame has been drilled. What if I order the universal kit and the holes dont match? I dont want to drill the frame a second time. Or is there a way to tell what brand of kit was used before based on measuring the hole in the frame/bed? I already own a pro series hitch and dont want to buy a different one. At the same time I would perfer to save money if the universal kit fits. Thanks

Since you F250's frame has already been drilled for a universal 5th wheel installation kit like # RP30035 and you do not want to drill more holes, I recommend the custom install kit # RP50082-58. Without knowing the exact kit that was previously installed I cannot assure you that a new universal-fit install kit will use the exact same holes already drilled. The work of the original installer also comes into play here.
A custom-fit install kit will save you a lot of time and effort on the install by eliminating the need to drill into the frame. Custom kits do cost more, but in your case since your frame has already been drilled I would avoid the potential need for more by using this custom kit. Curt's kit # C16448-204 is also a custom and at a lower price than the Reese but it does require some drilling.
