Can Transmission Fluid be Overcooled on a Chevy Silverado 1500HD
Question:
I have a Silverado 1500HD, I am looking at putting the Derale 13504 on my to help cool the transmission while towing, I am told by my local mechanic that I can over cool my transmission, would the 13504 still be the good choice? I live in Idaho and the temps can get down to freezing for about a month every winter, and I wont be doing any towing during that time of year.

Transmission fluid cannot be overcooled. But what can happen is that in cold temperatures it takes longer for it to warm up. All you would need to add is a cooler thermostat, # D13011, which will bypass the cooler until the temperature of the fluid gets above 180 degrees.
