Three Bike Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fits for 2012 VW Beetle

Question:

You say this will fit a 2003-2010 VW Beetle but will it fit our 2012 model? The 2 bike version is listed as fitting so is there a problem with the 3 bike version?

According to Thule, the 3 bike version of the OutWay, part # TH56BV isn't a recommended fit for your 2012 VW Beetle because the OutWay is slightly heavier than the rest of Thule's Trunk mount bike racks. The fear is that the weight of a third bike added to the rack could potentially damage the vehicle.

For a three bike Thule rack that is a confirmed fit, I'd recommend the Thule Gateway Pro, part # TH78VR. The rack includes an integrated cable lock to secure the bikes to the rack.

If you'll be transporting women's bikes or bikes with sharply-angled top tubes, you might also consider a frame adapter bar like part # 64005. The bar spans the distance between the handlebar gooseneck and the seat post, which provides a secondary attachment point for the bike rack. This allows the bike to be carried level, which maximizes ground clearance. I'll link you to a video showing how the adapter bar works.
