Battery Disconnect Options for Flat Towed 2014 Chevrolet Spark
Question:
Adam, Thanks for addressing my first question it was very helpful! However, I now have a few more questions. My first question was regarding towing a 2014 Chevy Spark. I assumed I would have to use a battery disconnect since this car needs the key in the ACC position. However, when reviewing more pages and sources, I see there are several options. I assumed I would just use a manual complete disconnect from the battery so it would not draw any power when towing. I would use a 12 volt outlet kit RM9332 from the motor home to power a Patriot baking system. However, I see there are other options, on a page you wrote to someone towing the same car question 96163 they were going to use a TowDaddy Autofuse Automatic fuse disconnect TD704 and then I also saw an automatic battery disconnect RM765 device. Is one of these options better? The idea of completely disconnecting the car battery during towing sounds like a little more work, but worth it if it keeps from draining the battery. I am also curious about how to make the electrical connection between the motor home and the car. Is there a cable that will go from the 7 way connector on the motor home to a connector on the car? Thanks.

In your case the better option is the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect for Towed Vehicles # RM-766 since you do not have to pull fuses in your Spark. In that other case the TowDaddy # TD704 would be the better option. The Roadmaster ABD # RM-766 eliminates the hassle of pulling your battery cable. To deliver a trickle charge to the battery via the tail light wire (when the RV lights are on) you can use # RM-156-25.
