Electric-Over-Hydraulic Disc Brake Actuators for Converting Triple Axle Boat Trailer to Disc Brakes
Question:
Are the RF communicated EOH acutaors/controllers reliable? Preference between Titan and HydrastarXL? Im renovating triple axle boat trailer to EOH with Kodiak discs on two axles. I have 2001 Dodge 3500 with large slide-in cabover camper, but often tow with other peplestrucks, hence the desire for the RF controller/communication. I suppose another option would be a hardwired controller with an assortment of harness/adapters for other mfgs, moving the controller to other vehicles.

Between the Titan BrakeRite # T4835700 and the CTS HydraStar # HBA16 our installers prefer the HydraStar overall. Naturally, RF-controlled units have the potential for interference issues that do not come up with a wired system.
For a truck to be used with an EOH-disc-brake equipped trailer it must have a brake controller that is compatible with this type of braking system. Many controllers, such as Tekonsha units like the P3 # 90195, have the capability to be used with either electric trailer brakes or an EOH actuator like the Titan BrakeRite # T4835700 or the HydraStar # HBA16.
You will want to check your trailer gross weight rating and local regulations because you may be required by law to have brakes on all three axles.
