Are Lights Required on a Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier on a 2015 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Im looking at the C18151 for a 2015 Toyota Highlander. From what I read it will fit fine. These carriers seem to stick out a lot. Do you recommend a light kit be used with them? If so, which one would you recommend for this carrier? It looks difficult to mount a light kit when there is only the square bars. Also, when folded up, do you know if this carrier will block the rear tail lights of the 2015 Highlander? Thanks.

You could put lights on the back of Curt cargo carrier # C18151 if the carrier itself or the cargo on it block the tail lights on your 2015 Toyota Highlander. You may be able to use or modify and use carrier light kit # 52014 which plugs into a 4-Way flat connector on the vehicle. If you need to add a trailer wiring harness to the vehicle use # 118449.
To determine if the carrier will block the tail lights when folded up you will need to take a measurement. On the vehicle, measure from the center of the receiver opening on the hitch to either the left or the right 30 inches. If at that distance you have not reached the tail light assemblies then the carrier will not block the lights when folded up.
