Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2015 Nissan Xterra to Tow Small Utility Trailer with 4-Pole Connector
Question:
I want to tow a small utility trailer with my 2015 Xterra. It just has the 4-pole plug, no brakes or battery. I do not have a factory tow package. What hitch and wiring do I need? other parts? Thx.

I will be happy to make some recommendations for your 2015 Nissan Xterra. First, for a trailer hitch, Curt hitch # 13514 is a very popular option. This is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver.
I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
And to add a 4-Way flat trailer wiring harness you can use # C56225. I have included links to videos showing installations of the hitch and wiring for you.
