Expert Reply:
The Isuzu D-Max is a pickup truck built by automaker Isuzu since 2002. It shares the same platform with several General Motors (GM) mid-size trucks in the United States such as the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Isuzu i-Series.
Brake controller installation, such as for a Tekonsha Voyager # 39510, requires that the red wire on the controller, which receives the brake light signal from the vehicle, be connected to the COLD side of the truck's brake light switch. This is the side that carries a voltage ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed. The best way to confirm the correct vehicle wire to connect is not by its color but by testing it with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Please refer to the linked video for illustration of using a tester.
The linked article on brake controller installations will give you a complete picture of the process.
