Question:

The latch will not stay open when I am trying to huck up. Some one has to hold the handle out or the jaus will not open. I cant find any adjustment.

The hitch jaws do not need to be open when hitching. As you back the truck toward the trailer, the king pin will spread the jaws open and they will close on the pin as soon as it is in position. See figures 10-12 on page 6 of the hitch instructions.

There is a latch on the side of the hitch that should lock the handle in place when towing. See figure 16 on page 7 of the instructions. In case you do not have the instructions any longer, I have added a link to them below.

When un-hitching, you should be able to lock the handle in the open position. Make sure there is no pressure against the jaws, and you should be able to pull the hitch handle all way out until it locks in to the open position. See steps 7-10 on pages 8 and 9 of your instruction manual for un-hitching instructions.
