Trailer Hitch Mount Platform Style Bike rack for a 2007 Honda Fit

Question:

I have a 2007 Honda Fit with a 1 1/4inch trailer hitch. I am trying to decide between the Yakima Hold up and the Thule T2. I only need to hold 1 or 2 bikes. Which do you suggest? P.S. love eTrailer! Got my hitch and last bike rack from you guys.

Expert Reply:

You would not be able to use the Yakima HoldUp, # Y02445, with your 2007 Honda Fit because the rack will only work with Class II trailer hitches. The trailer hitches for your Fit are all Class I trailer hitches. The rack physically will not fit far enough into the receiver to secure it to the hitch.

That leaves the Thule T2, # TH9045, which is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch. Keep in mind though that this is a 60 pound bike rack. When loaded to its 100 pound capacity that is a total of 160 pounds. The hitches for your fit max out at 200 pounds tongue weight so there is 40 pounds of capacity to spare.
