Are the Relays Included with Custom Trailer Wiring Harness for 2004 Nissan Pathfinder Armada Needed

Question:

Have a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder Armada. Just installed the hitch and wiring harness. Looked under the hood to install the relays in the compartment just behind the battery and there are two rows of relays one side has a brown and black and the other has a brown and blue. Are the relays included included in kit #N40975 necessary?

In your case the relays may have been installed at the factory for your vehicle and may not be necessary. I would proceed by installing the connector that mates with the plug at the rear of the vehicle and testing it for function with a circuit tester, item # 3808 if needed. If any of the functions are not working then the relays are most likely needed.

The 3 relays included in the Factory Style 7-Way and 4-Way Flat Vehicle End Trailer Connector, item # N40975 activate the following functions. Brown activates the 12 volt power circuit for the 7-Way, one blue relay activates the right side turn signal and the other activates the left side turn signal.
