Roof Rack and Cargo Basket that Wont Let Water Leak Into a 2004 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab

Question:

Does the clamps that go inside the door interfere with the seal that could cause leaking inside the cab during a heavy rain? And also would these rails support a roof basket? I have a 2004 double cab toyota tacoma.

When properly installed the clamps used to install SportRack roof rack # SR1005 will not affect the weatherstripping and would not cause water to leak into the cab of your 2004 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab.

If a roof rack is not installed in the proper location, over tightened on one side, or the wrong roof rack was used, that is when you would run into problems.

The roof rack can support a cargo basket. The bars have a capacity of 130 pounds but you will need to check the vehicle owners manual and/or Toyota for the trucks roof weight carrying capacity.

For a basket you will need to make sure the one you use can fit on a bar spread of 31-1/2 inches on center. For a nice Thule basket I would go with the Thule Canyon XT, # TH859XT.
