How to Tow a Fifth Wheel Trailer with a 2012 Ram 2500 Short Bed with B and W Turnover Ball

Question:

I just picked up a 2012 ram 2500 4x4 short bed and it has a BandW goose neck hitch in it. Looking for the best answer to tow my 5th wheel 12k lbs I have been using a husky 5th wheel hitch which I still have all but rails. I have heard both good and bad about the adapters that attach to the king pin to make it a goose neck could damage frame etc. My husk is a slider now is there adapter rails that would fit it? If I went with the capanion series would I have to buy the slider in a 2012 it is a 4 door but not the mega can. Just looking for the best economical way to tow but also to be safe. Thanks for your help

Since you have a short bed truck that has a B and W gooseneck hitch installed in it the best solution I can give you would be to go with a Companion Slider Hitch part # BWRVK3400.

However, since you said you are looking for the most economical option and you have a slider Husky hitch already a better solution for you would be the Curt X5 Fifth Wheel Adapter # 16310 that is designed to fit the B and W Gooseneck hitches and provide a set of industry standard rails for a fifth wheel hitch install. Only issue is that this adapter is not compatible with the Husky 10-16k or 10-26k slider hitches.

If your Husky slider hitch is either of those models the Companion slider hitch I recommended would be your only option.
