No Power After Installing Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller

Question:

I installed the Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller on the tow package of my 2006 Cadillac escalade. After installation I noticed no lights for power. Will i have to plug in my trailer to get the power light to activate or should the light be activated at all times when the ignition is turned on?

Yes, the LED indicator light on the Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller, # 39510, will only illuminate once the trailer is connected to your Escalade. I had this same concern when I first installed this brake controller on my truck, but don't worry, that is how it was designed.

Once you connect your trailer, the LED indicator should be green. The light will turn from orange to red as the power output to the trailer brakes increases. Red indicates maximum power output and orange indicates minimal power output. When testing, you will want to remember that this is a proportional brake controller. If the truck is not moving, it will only send out the maximum power with the manual override. The truck must be moving for the brake controller to send the maximum power when you step on the brake pedal.
