Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Harness Installed on 1999 Toyota Rav4
Question:
I just installed #55486 on m y 1999 toyota rav4 and all I have is taillights no signals, no brake lights. Any ideas? Its not the trailer because I hooked my other vehicle up to it and everything works!!! The yellow wire is on the drivers side per instructions and all connectors are locked!!! Thank you

I'd recommend further confirming that you're not getting any brake lights or turn signals on the trailer connector on the Rav 4 by using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the trailer connector. Activate the brake lights and turn signals while you're testing and check the pins on the connector being fed by the green and yellow wires. If you're not getting signal on the connector, test the green and yellow wires on the INPUT side of the converter. If you have signal going into, but not exiting the converter box, the box is faulty and should be returned.
If you don't have signal entering the converter box, review your installation, making sure you have the connectors firmly plugged into the factory connector until they click. Make sure the pins inside the connectors aren't bent.
