Base Plates Needed to Flat Tow 2001 Toyota Corolla with Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar
Question:
Does Blue Ox make a plate for this year, make and model? I already own a Blue Oz would prefer to stay with the same brand. Does someone make a lighting kit that intergrates not adapts to the wiring on the Corolla. Thank You

The only base plates available for your 2001 Toyota Corolla are the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit, # 521162-1. This kit offers the hidden bracket design and will install on the Corolla's frame to provide attachment points for your tow bar. Blue Ox base plates are not available for your Corolla.
Since you mention that you already have a Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar, # BX7380, you would just need the Roadmaster Tow Bar Adapter, # RM-032, in order to use the tow bar with the Roadmaster EZ base plates.
Now for a lighting kit. The Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit, # RM-155, uses your towed car's signal lights without tapping into its wiring. The Corolla's electrical system is bypassed and this kit works via independent plugs and sockets mounted inside the tail lights.
In addition, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. If you don't have a system already, take a look at the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO, # SM99251. This system has been confirmed to fit your vehicle and is very popular with our customers.
Last but not least, the information that I have been able to obtain on the Corolla states that if the vehicle is an automatic, modifications will be required in order to flat tow without damaging the transmission. I strongly urge you to consult the vehicle owner's manual for more information before flat towing your Corolla.
