Recommended Wiring Harness for 2009 Honda CR-V
Question:
wiring for trailer: The Curt wiring harness T adapter plugs into the existing CR-V wiring at the rear interior of the car. Ive spoken to one installer who says this is not a good installation and leads to overload of the wiring. His recommendation is to wire directly to the battery from a relay. Any comment on this?

We offer the Tow Ready T-1 Harness, part # 118247 for your CR-V. This part is similar to the Curt T Adapter. If your trailer has standard lighting drawing no more than 9.2 amps, the T-1 harness will work just fine for you. When you start adding side marker lights or clearance lights that add up to exceed that 9.2 amp figure, then you will want to go with a hardwired modulite converter like part # C59496. The modulite wires directly into the tail light circuits as well as drawing its 12-volt power directly from the vehicle battery.
The T-1 harness will certainly be easier to install, and would be a good choice if the lighting on your trailer falls into the above parameters.
For your convenience, I will include links to instructions for the T-1 and the modulite. You can find the links below.
