Will Stromberg Carlson Powered A-Frame Jack Work on Toy Hauler with 900 LB Tongue Weight
Question:
I have a 27 ft. toy hauler with a 900 lb. tongue and a weight distribution Quality S hitch. Is the 2500 lb capacity of this jack enough to lift the tongue and rear of the truck to set the spring bars? This is my first time using a weight distribution hitch. So Im not familiar with the force necessary to lift the tongue and rear of the truck to set the bars. I do know its more lifting than I want to do with the manual jack.

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Stromberg Carlson A-Frame Jack, # JET-2500, has a capacity of 2,500 lbs, which should be sufficient to lift the rear of the vehicle enough to take the weight off the system so the bars on your 27' toy hauler's weight distribution system can be installed or removed.
Keep in mind that the higher the capacity of the jack relative to the tongue weight of the trailer, the easier it is for the jack to lift the trailer and the longer it will last since only minimal strain is being put on it. For this reason I always recommend going with the highest capacity jack available for your setup.
