Replacement Hardware Recommendation for a Thule Mountaineer Roof Cargo Box

Question:

Hello: I have a Thule Mountaineer box. I recently purchased a new car, a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country with a factory roof rack. The load bars on this car have fixed points so I have to reconfigure the mounting hardware to fit. I was wondering if I can update the hardware to the new style. What is on it now are four sets of thumbknobs with metal plates that hook under the rack. It is a pain to take this on and off the car. Please advise. Thanks.

If the Thule Mountaineer cargo box you have was the newer Time Travel series, which would be a part number of 669ES, then the mounting hardware would be the Thule EasySnap Mounting u-bolt, part # 43216.

For older Mountaineer boxes like you have, the correct replacement hardware is Thule Quick Mount Hardware, part # TH04997.

I recommend sticking with the correct replacement hardware because to use a different style, you would have to make modifications to the box and that can compromise the structural integrity of the box.
