Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2012 Honda CR-V Carrying a Folding Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier
Question:
I have a 2012 CRV. I want a hitch for it just for a folding cargo carrier. What would be the best option also can I put it on without the wiring harness?

The hitch I recommend for your 2012 Honda CR-V is the Draw-Tite Class III part # 75742 because it an easy bolt-on installation and has a 2-inch receiver on the hitch which will provide you multiple accessory options.
Since you will be carrying a folding cargo carrier and cargo you will need to take the maximum tongue weight of your CR-V minus the weight of the actual folding carrier. This will equal the maximum weight of the cargo you can carry. For example: An aluminum cargo carrier like # C18100 weighs 30 pounds. Based on my research on your 2012 Honda CR-V, your tongue weight maximum is 150 pounds. With that being said, 150 pounds minus 30 pounds (cargo carrier part # C18100 example), you will have 120 pounds of available weight to carry on a folding cargo carrier.
Always check your owners manual to ensure the maximum tongue and towing weight capacity and abide by the lowest rated capacity.
I included a couple helpful articles and trailer hitch installation video for you to view.
