Will Using Timbren Helper Springs Increase the Tongue Weight Capacity on a 2005 Ford Escape

Question:

will the Timbren Suspension kit allow more tongue weight to my 2005 ford escape. I would like to hall 2 dirt bikes on a rack system connected to my 2inch receiver, but the max tongue weight on my suspension is 300 lbs. It says that the Timbren suspension kit can withstand 1300 lbs. Will this resolve my issue? Thanks.

Adding suspension enhancement will not increase the tongue weight capacity, gross trailer weight capacity, or load carrying capacity of a vehicle. It is meant to add support and keep the ride level.

The capacities of a vehicle are set according to several factors including, but not limited to, the drivetrain, motor, suspension, and axles.

Since the tongue weight capacity is not going to be high enough I recommend towing the dirt bikes on a small trailer. You already have the trailer hitch. So all you will need, if you don't have everything already, is etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

And for trailer wiring use # 118426 is the vehicle does not have the factory tow package or # 40455 if it does.
