How to Carry 3 Bikes with a 2010 Ford Fusion
Question:
I read somewhere Hidden Hitch site? that they cannot recommend using a 4-bike mount on a class 1 hitch on a Ford Fusion. What is your take on this compatibility? Is there the risk of too much weight on that class of hitch? Do you also not recommend this? Advice would be appreciated, thanks. I was planning on putting that hitch on my car and getting a 4-bike mount to hold THREE bikes FYI

Class I hitches just don't have the weight capacity to be able to handle the weight and leverage of more than 2 bikes. The problem is that the weight of the bikes end up so far away from the hitch as more and more of them get installed on the bike rack that it ends up putting too much torque on the hitch and attachment points of the vehicle. For more info on hitch classifications check out the FAQ article I attached.
The easiest way to carry a total of 3 bikes with your 2010 Ford Fusion would be to go with a 3 bike truck mounted rack that has been confirmed to fit your vehicle like the Malone Hanger 3 Bike Carrier # MPG2139. Check out the review video I attached for this rack as well.
If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Swagman Easy-Out Women's and Alternative Frame Bike Adapter # 64005 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
