Recommended Items To Convert Separate Wiring On International 4400 Truck For Towing
Question:
I have an International 4400 truck for a tow vehicle and need to tow a utility trailer. I can make everything work on a 7 pin flat except the brake lights. After testing I see that I have seperate turn signal and brake light signals on the truck not together I will be towing different trailers and want to be able to hook up and go without installing a convertor on each trailer. How can I do this. I also need to install an electric brake controller on the tow vehicle. Thanks for your help

There is a couple things you will need to get for your 4400 International Truck. since 99 percent of the trailers in the US are combined systems changing the wiring on the truck is really the best option.
First you will need a Vehicle Wiring Harness Kit, part # C59496. This will convert the separated signals on your truck and feed them to the 4-way connector included with the kit.
You then need to install a Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller, part # ETBC7. This will attach to the 4-way connector and with additional wiring for the brake controller will give you a working 7-way connector you can use to tow your trailers. I have attached a couple of helpful articles about wiring you can check out.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion
The brake controller I recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, part # 90195. This proportional brake controller activates the brakes on your trailer when the brakes are applied in the towing vehicle.
When installing this wiring if you need additional wiring I recommend the jacketed 2-wire 10 gauge wire, part # 10-2-1. This wire is sold by the foot.
We also offer the 10 gauge primary blue wire, part # 10-1-1. This is also sold by the foot.
