Recommended Wiring Solution for Flat Towing 2006 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I'm planning on towing my 2006 Jeep Wrangler. I have the towbar, base plates and Blue Ox Patriot braking system, but I'm not sure which wiring system to use. I don't like the idea of using a magnetic lamp, I don't want the wires flapping around. The wireless ones seem cool, but I'm worried about short battery life. Do you have any suggestions?

Given the fact that you're not enthralled with the magnetic lamps, I'd recommend you go with the Hopkins Plug-and-Play Taillight Wiring Kit, part # HM56202. Installation is simple, the connectors will plug inline with the wiring harnesses feeding your taillight assemblies. Unplug the existing harness, and plug one side of the T-connection into the wiring harness, the other into the taillight assembly. The T-connection with the yellow wire goes on the driver's side, the one with the green wire goes on the passenger side. The connector would run under the vehicle to the front bumper. When you run the wiring under the vehicle, be sure to avoid anything moving or hot, like steering, suspension and exhaust components.
I've linked you some flat towing FAQ articles that you might find helpful.
