With the top down, these footings attach directly to the roll bar. Is it necessary to cut away the padding under the roll bar cover?

I spoke to my contact at Thule and she informed me that as long as your roll bar padding is a factory option the Thule Roof Rack you referenced that consists of # TH711420 and # TH710401 will fit it without any trimming or permanent modification.
She said that every confirmed fit they offer for vehicles has to fit without any permanent modification to a vehicle.
