Options for Hauling Bikes and Additional Cargo on 2011 BMW X5
Question:
Wondering if there is enough clearance from the car to the cargo carrier to fit a Hollywood Rack Tow N Go on the arm?

I have a couple of options when it comes to carrying bicycles, as well as additional cargo, on your 2011 BMW X5 but using the Curt Clamp-On 3 Bike Carrier, # C18013, with the 20x60 Curt Cargo Carrier, # C18151, doesn't make for a good combination. Although the Tow 'n Go will fit on the shank of the carrier, you would have less than 12 inches of space before the bikes would start interfering with your cargo carrier leaving it pretty much useless.
Depending on how many bikes you are looking to carry, the easiest option would be the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 Platform Bike Rack w/ Cargo Carrier, # HR1450Z-85. This option would allow you to transport 2 bikes as well as 90 pounds of gear on the back of your X5.
Another option would be to carry cargo on a roof rack and use a hitch mounted bike rack. The exact opposite will also work, cargo carrier on the back of the vehicle and bikes on the roof.
If you could send me an email to let me know if your X5 is equipped with factory side rails or crossbars, I would be happy to make some recommendations for you.
