I spoke to my contact at Roadmaster about the RoadMaster 8" Safety Cable Extensions part # RM-910648-8 and they stated that each cable is rated for 8,000 lbs but that does not means it will give you 16,000 lbs in total as if one were to break, you will still only have a 8,000 lb capacity. This is going to be true for most safety cables and chains. If you need something higher then we have the Demco Safety Cable Extensions part # DM9523064 which are rated at 14,000 lbs and have a 12" extension.... view full answer...
The safety cables I highly recommend are from Roadmaster, the Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables. These cables are galvanized steel with a strong vinyl coating for protection and hooks that are forged steel for optimal strength. You can get them in either 64 inch or 76 inch lengths:

Yes you can use safety cables in place of safety chains as long as they are rated for the weight of the trailer. Chains are typically a little easier to use in this application though since you can manipulate the length of them easier by twisting them but you can use a cable set like the part # C80151 if you wanted. These have a 5,000 lb capacity. view full answer...
Actually most base plate kits have safety cables built into them to attach to the frame. This is designed so if the base plate kits attachment to the frame fails the safety chains will still catch. view full answer...
I attached a picture that shows where to attach the safety cables when installing the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate kit part # 52728-1. Here's the text too though.

cables and tow bar. view full answer...
When using D-ring adapters to flat tow your Jeep like what it sounds like you're doing, safety cables will generally just need to be attached to the vehicle's frame. What you can do is use some short cables to wrap around each frame rail and then hold them together with quick links. You can then attach the safety cables from the RV to the quick links.
I recommend using the Blue Ox Safety Cables # BX88208, as it includes two 3 foot long cables and 4 quick links. They feature a 10,000 pound... view full answer...
Since the RVIA recommends that the breakaway cable be longer than the safety cables, that is what I recommend you to do.
This will give you a chance to slow down and recouple the trailer in the event that it gets unhitched from your tow vehicle, and will not just automatically apply the brakes on the trailer while it is still attached to your two vehicle via the safety chains. view full answer...
The best length for the cable of a breakaway system like the Tow Ready Trailer Break Away Kit # 50-85-315 that you referenced will be slightly longer than the safety chains.
The breakaway cable should be longer than the safety chains according to RVIA Recreational Vehicle Industry Association. This will activate the brakes in the event you lose the trailer connection and the safety chains fail. view full answer...

For the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522 I would recommend a straight cable like the RoadMaster 64" Double Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-646 which will feed through the cable guides to protect wires and safety cables.

A smaller S-hook like the Curt # C81830 can indeed be too small for the sturdy safety chain loops on a Class V hitch like # C15860. The safety cables that I recommend for your 2004 Jeep Liberty are the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook Coiled Safety Cables part # RM-643 because they have a coiled design so they won't drag the ground while in tow. They also have easy to use clevis hooks as well as a suitable weight capacity for your Jeep. view full answer...

The Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000 lbs # RM-522 has a channel to run the safety cables through so you will want to use straight safety cables. I recommend using the Roadmaster 64" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables - 8,000 lbs # RM-645.

We do have longer safety cables like the Blue Ox 7 ft coiled cables part # BX88197 which will be much longer than what you have now but since they are coiled you wouldn't have to worry about them being so long that they'd drag since the coils pull them tight enough to prevent that. view full answer...
The Curt Tow Bar, Item # C19745, is a basic but durable tow bar that should serve you well. For safety cables, I recommend the Roadmaster Coiled Safety Cables, Item # RM-643, because they are 68 inches long so plenty of length, are heavy-duty, and have a vinyl coating that keeps the cables from scratching and chipping your tow bar or anything else.
Besides a tow bar and safety cables, you will need tow bar wiring and a supplemental braking system for flat towing your 2005 Jeep Wrangler.... view full answer...
