The only color available is indeed black, as there isn't an option for one in white for the hitch aligner for a 1-1/4 inch hitch; so for an aligner you would need the following:
- Hitch Pin Alignment Collar for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers - 1-1/4" Hitches # e58ZR

The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 that you referenced is not described as water-resistant. There are water-resistant backup camera systems available, such as the Swift Hitch Portable Water Resistant Wireless Camera System # SH02DIGITAL. No camera system can be described as absolutely water-proof.
I have linked an installation video for this item. view full answer...
The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System part # HM50002 has a limited field of view as the viewing angle is only 110°. Therefore, it is primarily used for hitch alignment and coupling but it can also be used as just a standard reverse/backup camera. I know it's not as cost effective but if you're looking for a better option with more field of view, I recommend the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System part # RVS-778718N which has a 170° field of view and it uses an... view full answer...
The # KSC088 K-Source backup mirror would work for aligning your fifth-wheel hitch and king pin, but this mirror will only allow you to see a field up to 6' behind the mirror. If your truck has a long bed, you would not be able to see the king pin until you backed up enough to get it into the field of vision for the mirror.
The Swift Hitch wireless backup camera # 04928 would work great for aligning your trailer and fifth-wheel hitch. You can mount the camera on any metal surface in... view full answer...
I reached out to the manufacturer, Hopkins, who told me their Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 has a 110 degree viewing angle and that it is an analog system and not digital.
As for the water problem you mentioned, they said that occasionally they have heard of this but there is a silicone seal inside the plate that should prevent this and that if it does happen within the first year they will replace the system for you.
I have added a link to a couple... view full answer...
I do not recommend drilling a hole in a trailer hitch like the Draw-Tite # 76154 that fits a 2019 Nissan Titan as not only will this void the warranty but hitches have not been tested to be used after modification.
A Class III, 2" hitch like the Draw-Tite is designed to be used with a 5/8" diameter pin and clip such as # PC3, while a 1-1/4" hitch will use a 1/2" diameter pin and clip like # F-4. view full answer...
The eZ-Latch on the Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM13689-52 does make it easier to connect the trailer and ensure the coupler latches down fully than your trigger style coupler. Since you can visibly see the latch raise and drop you know you are connected. The coupler does have the lip which if you are not quite perfectly aligned with the hitch ball you can set some of the weight on the ball and push the trailer over to drop onto the hitch ball. I find using Hitch Lube # 58117... view full answer...
The camera in the Swift Hitch, # 04928, is weather resistant but the camera is not completely sealed so it cannot be considered waterproof. For something to be considered waterproof it would have to be able to be submerged under water for a certain amount of time and still function.
For rainy weather, though, the camera will work but I do recommend that once you are done using it, place the camera where it is out of the rain. I have included a couple of videos of this system for you. view full answer...
I spoke with a Swift Hitch representative, and they said you can not use your smartphone with the Swift Hitch Wireless Hitch Alignment Camera and Monitor # 04928, it is intended to only be used with the monitor.
The VueSMART RV and Trailer Backup Camera - Wireless # HM34FR is a universal mounted backup camera that has a 152 degree viewing angles and has android/smartphone capabilities via WiFi. This camera also features night time capabilities like the Switch Hitch Camera. view full answer...
Hopkins does not have a replacement monitor available for the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002, so if the monitor no longer works, the only way to get a new one is with an entirely new system. view full answer...
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "the clip for the opening bar" in reference to the Reese 5th Wheel Hitch # RP30047 because the way this hitch couples is by rotating the latch and backing the truck up so the king pin pushes the hitch jaws open, which springs the jaws closed and turning the handle towards the closed position. The latch on this hitch MUST be aligned with the groove in the handle or the hitch can fall out. Since I'm unsure of exactly what the situation is with your hitch... view full answer...
I spoke with my contact at Hopkins and most likely the reviews that you have seen were from the previous model of the Smart Hitch Backup Camera. In the past they had a small programming glitch which has since been corrected.
The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System, # HM50002, would be a great addition to your 2001 Ford Ranger and now has great customer reviews with no complaints of there being any malfunctions. view full answer...
You can contact the dealer and have them look up the VIN and they should be able to tell you. There is also a sticker on the driver side door jamb that should show where the vehicle was made.
The issue is that on Korean built models there is a hole that is not present on the frame that would have to be drilled using the hitch as a template. All the other attachment points are correct. This is an issue on the sedan models but we have not heard about issues on the hatchbacks. view full answer...
That's a good question, and there's an interesting reason why there are the long holes on the side of the etrailer Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2" Hitch # e28JR.
Using a regular reducer sleeve requires you to line up your hitch pin with two holes - the standard hitch pin hole and the reducer sleeve hole. Getting both holes lined up in juuuuuuuuuuuuust the right spot is pretty frustrating (especially if it's something you are taking on and off frequently, and these... view full answer...
If a longer drawbar is needed on your vehicle with the 1-1/4 inch receiver you may be able to use part # C45000. This ball mount has a distance of 13-1/2 inches from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole.
We also have a trailer hitch extender for a 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch. It is the Brophy Hitch Extender, part # hes6. This extends the hitch 6-inches from center-to-center of the hitch pin holes.
You should note that using an extender in the trailer hitch will reduce the overall... view full answer...
The important thing to remember about this Curt Trailer Hitch Ballmount with 2 Inch Receiver for Bike Racks or Cargo Carriers, part # D210, is that it is a great product but it has to be used correctly. It is critical that you observe and follow the towing and tongue weight limit. I do not know how high the coupler of your trailer will be, or at what height your receiver on your Windstar will be when installed, so I cannot say whether your trailer will be level when using this product.... view full answer...
I have not seen any reviews or anyone actually trying to use the Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Camera and Monitor - Night Vision - 8-Hr Camera Battery # SH02Digital to load their truck bed camper. The Curt Hitch that is designed to fit your Highlander is part # 13534. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening.
Hitches can at times suffer a little when being shipped but typically result in being a minor problem. Most of the problems are the mounting brackets on the hitch do not line up with the holes on the vehicle frame. Our installers use a 'cheater bar' that looks like a long tapered screwdriver with no blade on the end. They place the bar in one hole to... view full answer...
The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 that you referenced in your question is a great system that has received some great reviews from customers. It can be used both for coupling a trailer and for everyday use like what you are wanting to use it for.
