  • Where is the Brake Controller Fuse Located on a 2013 Chevy Suburban
  • The fuse for the brake controller on a 2013 Chevy Suburban should be at the front of the power distribution box (closest to the front of the vehicle) and nearest to one of the 2 terminals at are at the very front of the box. I have included a picture that should help and a help article. According to the owners manual for the vehicle the brake controller fuse is in location 6.

  • Reese Dual-Cam Sway Control Brackets are Coming Loose from the Trailer Frame
  • It sounds like you need the rivet nuts # RP58507. If the rivet nuts do not work then you can go ahead and drill all the way through the frame and use longer bolts to bolt the dual-cam brackets to the trailer. Also make sure that the set screws at the backs of the brackets are at the proper tension. As far as the tension goes you may need to make adjustments to the head angle and/or the amount of chain links you are using at the spring bars to make it easier to use.

  • Trailer Brake Controller Shows Constant 12 Volt Power After Wires Corroded and Blew Fuse
  • You could have a bad controller or the original short that blew the fuse also damaged the controller. And you could also have another short or not totally fixed the original issue. To test the controller, cut the blue wire a few inches back from the controller. Then use your tester to test the end coming out of the controller. If it shows power without the brake or manual override then it is a bad controller and it will need to be replaced. Also check where the original problem occurred....

  • Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Sticks Brakes Occasionally
  • Testing the brake controller is fairly easy. Sever the blue brake output wire near the brake controller leaving enough room to reconnect it and then apply the manual slide. Using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993, you should get output to the controller side of the wire you severed. If the manual slide activates the trailer brake output wire properly, try the brake pedal. If the brake pedal activates the brake output properly (since the controller is proportional you won't get full voltage),...

  • Troubleshooting Factory Towing Sensor Errors
  • I'm assuming that you're talking about the truck beeping and your truck came with the factory tow package with a brake controller installed and some sort of monitoring system for the trailer wiring. Most of the time with these systems, the errors that are reported have to do with the wiring connections on the trailer or vehicle becoming dirty/corroded or a short somewhere on the brakes or connector. Make sure that neither side is dirty/corroded and clean them off as necessary. You'll...

  • Trailer Right Turn Signal Not Working when Connected to a 2004 Chevy Suburban 2500
  • To determine if the problem is on the trailer or truck, you can disconnect the trailer and use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 (if you don't already have one or a meter) and test the connector on your truck to see if it has power with the right turn signal on. If it does, then the issue is on the trailer. If it does not, then the issue is on your 2004 Chevy Suburban; likely a blown tow package fuse. In your Suburban the right trailer turn/brake light fuse is located in the in-cab panel...

  • Troubleshooting the Installation of Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller
  • You will need to have the trailer connected to the tow vehicle to provide feedback and set the brake controller. However, the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90195, should be powered and have illuminated indicators once the engine is started if a trailer is connected or not.

  • Availability of 7-Way to 4-Way Trailer Wiring Adapters
  • Yes you can attach the 4-way of your vehicle to a 7-way adapter like with the part # 37185 which your 4-way would plug right into and you'd have an active 7-way for. Or if you were going the opposite direction you'd want the part # PK12716.

  • Trailer Running Lamp Fuse Location on 2003 Chevy Suburban
  • I'd be happy to help you with that. Your Suburban has 3 different fuse panels, one in the center console, one in the drivers side of the dash where it abuts the inside of the driver's side door and one in the engine compartment. You'll find the trailer taillight fuse in the fuse panel in the engine compartment. GM doesn't number the location, but the circuit is described as 'TRL PARK', and is shown in the diagram I provided. You'll also want to find what caused that fuse to blow in the...

  • Brake Controller troubleshooting on a 2003 Suburban 1500 4X4
  • If the Draw-Tite 2-4 Brake Electronic Brake Controller is applying the brakes with the slider and not when you step on the brake then this is showing that you have power to the brake controller through the black wire and that the blue wire going to the trailer brakes is connected. This means that the input from the brake pedal switch must be the problem. Make sure that the brake controller is grounded properly and test the red wire going into the controller with a circuit tester, item...

  • Should Red Wire for Primus IQ Brake Controller Always be Hot
  • You definitely did find the culprit! The red wire should only get hot when your brake pedal is pressed. This tells the Primus IQ # TK90160 that you are stepping on the pedal so that the controller, in turn, will activate the brakes on your trailer. Check for any places where that wire is damaged and try to repair it as that would be the problem. If you can't find any places where it looks damaged then you may need to use something like the Pacer Performance 3rd Brake Light Logic Module...

  • Troubleshooting Left Turn/Stop Circuit Not Functioning After Installing 7-Way
  • The issue would be on the yellow wire you wired to the 7-way as that would be the left turn signal/stop circuit. I'd check there to make sure that connection is solid. I attached a link to a page that has more info on trailer wiring for you to check out as well.

  • Tekonsha Primus IQ Shows Output Driving Down the Road
  • For starters, the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160 should shut off after 15 minutes of inactivity. Now, there are a few things that could cause the issue you are describing. The first of which would be corrosion on the vehicle side trailer connector as this could cause power to jump circuits and trick the brake controller into thinking that there is a trailer connected. I would first make sure none of the pins are bent and then spray them down with some electrical...

  • Where are the Trailer Brake Controller Fuses Located on a 2014 Chevy Suburban
  • On the 2014 Chevy Suburban there are brake controller fuses in locations 6 and 63 under the hood. If the one at 63 is good then it must be the one at position 6 that is either missing or blown.

  • Turn Signal Fuse Blowing on 2003 Chevy Suburban With 7-Way
  • If you already replaced your 2003 Chevy Suburban's 7-way with something like the Curt # C55774, and you are still blowing fuses the only thing it can be is a bad ground or - far more likely a short on the wiring. Check to ensure your grounds are connected to bare metal free of any dirt, paint, or corrosion, which is an easy check. The more difficult part is going to be a check on the wires, as you'll need to trace it back and use Circuit Tester # PTW2979 along the wiring to try and find...

  • Troubleshooting Brakes not Functioning after Adding Brakes on Tandem Axle Trailer
  • The first thing I would check would be the grounds of the brake assemblies on the side of the trailer that does not seem to be working properly. If the grounds are not making solid connections the brakes would not activate. You should also check for voltage at every brake assembly. You would do this by having a buddy activate the override function of your brake controller while you use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to see if there is voltage on the circuit. As long as you used adequate...

  • Tips For Removing A Stripped Set Screw On A DTALBM6600 Ball Mount
  • If the set screw on your # DTALBM6600 ball mount is broken, it will certainly make removing it tricky. If the screw is stripped, you may want to try using a different size allen wrench. I would take every size that I have and try larger sizes and see if you can get one to catch. It would help to spray it down with penetrating oil before you try to remove. Another thing you could try would be a left handed drill bit. You would need to use a very small bit, as the set screw is 1/20". This...

  • Troubleshooting No Brake Output at 7-Way with Factory Brake Controller on 2010 Chevy Suburban
  • I did take a look at the online owner's manual for your 2010 Chevy Suburban and found that there should be a fuse located in the # 6 position inside the engine compartment fuse block. This fuse is for the trailer brake controller and you can start by checking to make sure it is present and in good condition. If the fuse is good, then I recommend checking the 7-Way itself for any debris or corrosion that might be built up behind the pins, cleaning out as needed. Check the wiring going...

  • P3 Brake Controller in 2009 Chevy Suburban Suddenly Stopped Recognizing Trailer
  • It is very possible that the brake magnets or the wiring to them are the problem. If the magnet wires are getting 12-13 volts on their power wires then make sure the ground wires are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. Inspect the magnets as well and if you can see the copper windings coming through then they will need to be replaced. I have included a help article on how you can further test brake magnets. If the trailer has a break away system then you will need...

  • No Power at Knob on Curt Spectrum Brake Controller
  • I would start by using a hook probe tester like the # PTW2993 to check and see if you're getting a power feed on the wire coming out of the box on the Curt Spectrum # C51170 when the knob is plugged in. This will give you an idea if the knob might be faulty or not. If you can let me know whether or not the box of the Spectrum is providing power out we can troubleshoot from there.
