Bearing fitment is precise down to ten thousandth of an inch so it you have the incorrect bearings installed in your hub there will be play on the spindle, which can cause the bearings to overheat and either explode out inside the hub or melt to the spindle. Play in the bearings will also cause the wheel to sit crooked but so can a bent axle.

According to my research it looks like the Ranger Trail trailers have a tendency to fail at the oil seal - which means either the seal is bad or the spindle is damaged where the seal rides. If you start to see oil drops under your hubs it definitely means you have an issue and you need to take action.

For your current drums you'll want to inspect them for damage on the inside and you'll need to repack the bearings if that hasn't been done in a while. We do offer compatible replacement hub/rotors for your Dexter 008-435-05 but they unfortunately do not come pre-greased. I recommend picking up the # K08-435-05 as well as bearings # L68149 and # L44649, and grease seal # RG06-050 to pre-pack the hub yourself with some lube # L11380 before the trip. To prevent the bearings from falling out or any dirt/debris from getting inside the hub you can put two layers of plastic wrap over the holes and rubber band them down.

- Yes the spindle can be replaced, but you're going to have to take a couple quick measurements to find out what the replacement is.
Using the diagram I've attached and a set of digital calipers # PTW80157 you'll want to measure the grease seal seat (B), the inner bearing seat (C), and the spindle shaft diameter (A).
From here we'd have all the info about your spindle which would lead us to the correct replacement.
