Hey there James; good question and the reason a battery charger is needed is because the 7-way on your truck doesn't provide a full charge to your trailer battery, it is a maintenance charge.
There is too much power loss due to the distance from your vehicle battery to the trailer battery, so fully recharging your battery via 7-way isn't possible. So you do need a separate charger, and can use something simple that just plugs into a wall such as the NOCO Genius Smart Battery Charger #... view full answer...
Hey Sean!
As long as you don't have anything placing a draw on the Bright Way Solar Battery Charger # BRW54FR, and the 4-6 hours of sunlight is unrestricted then this kit will be just fine for keeping your Group 24 battery topped off. view full answer...
The wiring for the # 331-BCDC1225D would be the same as the diagram below, you're just coming off of that 12V battery in the back instead of your typical battery in the engine compartment. The thing you need to figure out, and that I'm not sure about, is how exactly that battery is recharged. I would ask the Toyota dealer if it will work to connect the battery charger to it. As long as it is getting enough of a charge and you aren't pulling too much power it will be fine. Otherwise, you're... view full answer...
Hey Tug, it sounds like your current converter isn't designed for lithium batteries or isn't in a lithium setting which charges at a higher voltage. The Progressive Dynamics converter charger part # PD79RR is lithium compatible and can put a charge out of 60 amps so it would quickly charge your 200 ah lithium batteries. view full answer...
While there isn't an extension harness made specifically for the NOCO Genius 10x3 part # NOC74FR it is possible to extend the wiring. You would just need to splice in the amount of extra wire you would need. I would go with a heavier gauge like with 12 gauge part # 12-1-1 which we sell by the foot. view full answer...
Hey Patrick, thanks for reaching out!
It sounds like you're needing the Progressive Dynamics 4000 Series Mini RV Converter w/ Charge Wizard and AC/DC Distribution Panel # PD4045KA.
If you're wanting just the converter part then the Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series RV Converter Charger # PD69RR would be the best option as it comes with the pendant for it. It's worth noting this doesn't have the Charge Wizard feature so if you need the Charge Wizard you'll have to go with the whole kit... view full answer...
Yes you can use the Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit w/ Built-In Charger # 20099 to charge your second battery but you're going to need to add a diode # RM-690 so you don't drain both batteries since they'd be on the same circuit. view full answer...
Hey Tom, yes the Progressiv Dynamics Converter part # PD69RR does need to be manually selected to either lithium or lead acid battery as it does not have an automatic battery type sensor. They played around with idea of using an automatic switch but the error rate of the sensor (that would have to run everytime the battery is used) wasn't successful enough so they went with a manual switch instead. view full answer...
The Breakaway Switch # HM20060 also needs a Battery # HM20008 to get power from to activate the brakes. If you do not have a box to store and protect the battery you will also want that and a Charger # 20011 to connect everything together. I have linked our help article on trailer breakaway setup near the bottom of the page for you to reference to ensure you get everything wired correctly. Most importantly remember to wire for wire function and not color as not all trailer manufacturers... view full answer...
We have all the parts you will need to add a set of electric brakes to a Master Tow 80THD tow dolly but they don't come in kits. I recommend installing electric brakes. It looks like Master Tow includes brake mounting flanges so you will need the following parts:
Brake Assembly - Electric Trailer Brake Kit item # AKEBRK-35 - Sold as a pair
Hub & Drum Assembly - Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly item # AKHD-545-35-K - Sold individually you'll need two.
Trailer Wiring Junction Box item #... view full answer...
Hello Dan. This trailer currently has no brakes correct? It may be possible to add electric brakes, as long as the axle is equipped with a 4-bolt brake flange. If no brake flange is present, you would either need to have them added to the axle, or replace the axle entirely.
If you do have a brake flange, you can add electric brakes without too much trouble. You will need to get brake assemblies, hub/drum assemblies, a 7-way trailer wiring harness, an emergency breakaway kit, and an electric... view full answer...
Howdy there, William. I can help with this. It may be possible to install electric brakes on your two axle boat trailer. The first thing we will want to look at is whether or not the axle has a brake flange. If you want to see an example of what that looks like, take a look at part # TRU74FR and see how it has the square flange with 4 holes at the base of the spindle. If your axle has a brake flange, brakes can easily be added. If it does not, we recommend that you replace the axle.
