Good morning, Gerard. The Valterra RV Sewer Slip Hub with Flange # T1005 does not come with a gasket. It does seem like it should, so I can't really disagree with you, but that is just how the manufacturer sells this particular part. It is purely just the replacement hub and flange. We do offer gaskets though if you need new ones:

Hello Gerry. The hub portion of the Valterra Bladex Waste Valve # T40B is 1-1/2" deep. Overall, the valve itself is a bit over 5" deep. You would want the valve to be positioned so it is easily accessible, but it does not protrude from the side of the camper. I really can't give you an exact number for like how many inches of pipe to cut off. I would take the valve and just dry fit it to the pipe to see how it is positioned and how it looks.
