I don't see an issue with this as long as you're supporting the 5th wheel hitch so the weight of the hitch isn't pulling constantly at the jaw system. The 5th wheel hitch manufacturers didn't design the hitches to be stored this way but if you add support under it once your truck is out of the way it will be perfectly fine.

The Single Diode # RM-690 is going to be a better option than the Diode # RM-790 as it only has the single input rather than a dual input. Ideally your 5th wheel should have come with a In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # RED96FR which would prevent the power from backflowing either from the solar panels or when connected at a campground.

We typically recommend using a sliding hitch for any bed under 8' long, but we've found that the GM trucks don't pose a problem with turning granted the 5th wheel being towed has a tapered nose and you're careful while taking those tighter turns.

Unfortunately the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box # GY46FR would likely make contact with the Ram Boxes whenever you try to make a turn. With Ram Boxes your options for towing a 5th wheel are pretty much limited to rotating pin boxes, especially with a short bed. With this pin box you'd end up with the pivot point sitting 22" closer to the truck so the pin box could hit the side of the bed and the nose of the trailer could hit the cab of the truck. First, I just want to ensure you have loosened the draw down bolt on the square shank for the Companion # BWRVK3500 which goes into your B&W Turnover ball receiver. Next it is important to look under your truck bed to see if the pin which holds the hitch/ball in place went all the way through the hitch. I have seen where the pin did not fully retract into the receiver and when tightened it bent the pin causing an issue.

Hey David; I checked directly with Pace Edwards for you and can tell you that the rails on the Pace Edwards Switchblade Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # PE46QJ will protrude just under 3/4" on both sides when installed on your Ford Super Duty standard/short bed.
