  • Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2005 Ford Freestyle
  • Most likely the SportRack 3 Trunk Mounted Bike Rack part # SR3152 that you referenced would fit your 2005 Ford Freestyle, but Sportrack does not have a fitguide that lists fits for this rack on vehicles so it is hard for me to say for certain. But for a similarly priced rack that has been confirmed to fit your vehicle check out the Hollywood Racks 3 Bike Carrier part # HRE3. I attached an install video for this rack for you to check out. I also attached a link to a page that has all of...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring That Stopped Working After a Year
  • First thing you should do at this point is test the 4-way of the wiring harness with a circuit tester part # PTW2993 for voltage on all of the right pins when the taillight signals are being applied. Just like in the video I attached. If the voltage checks out there but the trailer lights still don't function right then the problem is on the trailer wiring. That would mean that problem is either due to a ground issue or a short issue. Make sure that the trailer side connector are clean...

  • Troubleshooting Curt Venturer Brake Controller Installed on 2007 Ford Freestyle
  • It sounds like there's too much going on with the controller for it to be a faulty unit. I suspect that the controller might be wired to the wrong stoplight switch wire, and my Curt representative agrees. Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the wire you have the red brake controller wire attached to. In the 2008 model, a purple/white striped wire was used, but I have no information about a 2007. This wire should show power ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed, not with the turn...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2005 Ford Freestyle
  • Like most electronic devices trailer wiring harnesses are all made overseas. Out of all the options for the 2005 Ford Freestyle I recommend Tekonsha harness # 118395 because they have proven to be the most reliable with the fewest reported issues compared to the other options.

  • Recommendation to Transport 4 Bikes with 2005 Ford Freestyle along with Possible New Vehicle
  • I have a couple possible solutions for you. Since you plan on changing vehicles soon, the most cost-efficient way to transport your bikes with your 2005 Ford Freestyle is with a trunk mount bike carrier. The most bikes a trunk-mount carrier that we offer can carry is 3, however if you are able to still fit one bike inside the vehicle, this may be your best option. I recommend the Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Carrier # HRE3. This will hold 3 bikes of up to 35 pounds each and features...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2005 Ford Freestyle
  • The correct wiring harness you would need for your 2005 Ford Freestyle would be the Tow Ready Harness part # 118395. This will give you a flat 4-way that should match up to your trailer's 5-way. Typically the 5th wire on a 5-way is run to the reverse lights of the tow vehicle for a reverse lockout or reverse lights. Either way if you need that fifth circuit you would also need to install the part # 20036. This will plug into the 4-way of your vehicle and the fifth wire will tap into your...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2006 Ford Freestyle
  • We have trailer wiring that is a confirmed fit for your 2006 Ford Freestyle but it does not use the unusual connector you sent in a picture of. Instead you'd want the T-One kit part # 118395 which installs by plugging inline with the taillight connectors of your vehicle. I attached an install video for more info for you to check out as well. What you have might be related to a Ford only style of connector but you'd have to check with a Ford dealer to know for sure.

  • Do 2005 Ford Freestyle WeatherTech Rain Guards Install with Adhesive
  • I took a look at the rain guards we offer for your 2005 Ford Freestyle and the only style we have is the WeatherTech Side Window Rain Guards with Dark Tinting # WT82376 which install inside the window channel so no glue is needed. If you have the WeatherTech kit then I recommend referencing the instructions, but if you have a different kit then I recommend reaching out directly to the manufacturer so any adhesive they might say you're needing.

  • Recommended Grease for Repacking Bearings on CE Smith Trailer Hub Assembly # CE13100
  • I spoke with my contact at CE Smith regarding the Trailer Hub Assembly # CE13100 that you reference. She stated that they use an NLGI # 2 red grease like the LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease # L11390. This will be compatible with the grease currently in the hub, but I do still recommend removing as much grease from the hubs as you can when repacking, as it's possible that the old grease may be contaminated from moisture. I have attached a great article on repacking trailer bearings...

  • Will This Curt Tow Bar Fit on a 2006 Ford Freestyle
  • The Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms # C19745 will not fit the 2006 Ford Freestyle since the Freestyle cannot be flat towed. Assuming that you have the Front Wheel Drive model of the 2006 Freestyle, you would need to use a tow dolly similar to the Demco Kar Kaddy # DM9713045 . The Kar Kaddy has a 4,800-lb capacity, which will safely carry your vehicle. The Kar Kaddy comes with disc brakes built in and will offer you the ability to fold it up for easy storage when it's not in use. If...

  • Installing 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2005 Ford Freestyle
  • To wire the 7-way connector you have already purchased, you will need the Pigtail Wiring Harness for Pollak Replacement 7-Pole RV Socket, part # PK11998. This harness would plug into the rear of the trailer connector, and the bare leads on the other end would connect to the existing vehicle wiring, using the color code mentioned in the product description. If you do not already have one, I would recommend using a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993 to locate the correct circuits for installing...

  • Brake Controller and Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2005 Ford Freestyle
  • You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118395. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake...
