I believe you will find that your trailer setup will be within the 220 lb tongue weight limit of your 2011 VW Tiguan. You should check the actual tongue weight to be sure, but I did some calculations and found that if your trailer is loaded properly the tongue weight should be somewhere around 190 pounds at most. The monitor itself, measures 3-1/2 inches long, 2-1/8 inches wide and about 1 inch thick. The mount is only about 1 inch from the back of the monitor to the base. I may have a solution for you, however there is not an adapter that will work for you without reducing the weight capacity. As you said any adapter will reduce the weight capacity by 50 percent making it not enough.
