  • Will the Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Rack Fit on a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle Hardtop
  • The Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Rack, # S63360, will work well with your 2012 Volkswagen Beetle hardtop. We have not had a chance to mount this bike rack on a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, but this bike rack offers 11 inches of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the upright bar. You most likely have a 1-1/4 inch receiver on your vehicle and this bike rack will fit both 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. I have attached the installation instructions of this bike rack...

  • Would Bikes and Bike Rack Obstruct Vision of Tail Lights on a 2007 VW Beetle
  • To determine whether or not a hitch is recommended for your vehicle I would recommend you check your owners manual to see if there are any restrictions on installing a hitch. While you are there you should also check to see if there are any tongue weight restrictions if a hitch is installed. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 24679, that you referenced is confirmed to fit your 2007 Volkswagen New Beetle and would do well to carry a 2-bike rack. I attached installation instructions...

  • Will the Thule Passage and Raceway 2 Bike Rack fit a 2004 Volkswagen Beetle
  • I checked with Thule and the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT and the Thule Raceway 2 Bike Rack # TH9001 is a confirmed fit for your 2004 Volkswagen Beetle. If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Thule Bike Adapter Bar # TH982XT to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible
  • Because your 2004 VW new Beetle is a convertible, you cannot add a trunk mount bike rack because the rack will not be able to safely secure to the rear of the vehicle. If you want to carry bikes on the vehicle then you will need to install a trailer hitch like # 24679. I have included links to the installation instructions and a video showing a typical installation. For a bike rack, I recommend the Titan, # S63400. This is a 2 bike rack (the most that the Class I hitch can hold). It features...

  • Can Stabilization Strap # 18050 for Curt Trailer Hitches be Attached to Glass Hatch on VW Beetle
  • I do not recommend using the hook on stabilization strap # 18050 on glass because it could end up damaging the glass on your 1999 VW New Beetle. What you could do, instead of using the hook part, is to replace it with strap # Y02623 or hook the hook part to the loop of this strap. The Yakima strap has that padded cylinder that would be inside the vehicle. This will disperse the weight/force on the glass over a wider area.

  • Will the Thule Passage 2 Bike Rack fit a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle
  • I checked with Thule and the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2005 Volkswagen Beetle and should work well to carry your bike with a horizontal top tube as long as you get a Thule Thule Bike Adapter Bar # TH982XT. The # TH982XT attaches from the seat post to the steering stem to provide a horizontal attachment point for the bike to attach to. Check out the link to the review video I attached for this product. I attached a review video...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation on a 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Turbo Convertible
  • The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch # 24679 is the hitch for your 2004 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo. Your Beetle is only equipped to support a Class I hitch so you will have to stick with a 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver. You could possibly use an extender to go to a 2 inch but then you would lose 50 percent of your weight capacity of the hitch, which is already only 200 lbs. of tongue weight. I definitely recommend sticking with a 1-1/4 inch bike rack. There's a video attached of the Sportframe...

  • Will the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24679 Fit a 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle Turbo Diesel
  • I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite about hitch # 24679 and a 2002 VW New Beetle Turbo Diesel. the only model that this trailer hitch will not fit is the Turbo S model. If yours is branded as a Turbo S it will not fit, otherwise it fits all models. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you. If you plan on doing some towing, the correct ball mount is # 3593 and you can use pin and clip # PC2, 1-7/8 inch ball # 19256, and...

  • Fit of Thule OutWay # TH45JV on 2002 VW Turbo Beetle w/ Spoiler
  • Although the Thule OutWay is shown as a fit for the 2002 VW Beetle, I'm not certain of the fit on the Turbo model with the spoiler. I spoke with my Thule representative, who told me that they haven't tested the rack on a Beetle that's equipped with a spoiler. Therefore, they can't confirm or deny fit but my rep said that it was unlikely due to the design of the spoiler. However, after looking at several photos of Beetles with spoilers, I sincerely doubt the OutWay would reach over the...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For A 2001 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo
  • The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24679 is a confirmed fit for the 2001 Volkswagen Beetle both with and without turbos. You will need to do some minor drilling in addition to modifying the heat shield in order for you to install this item. For a hitch mounted bike rack, I recommend using the Yakima RidgeBack Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # Y02457 as this bike rack will tilt downward to allow for easy access to the rear cargo area. I have also...

  • Correct 2" Trailer Hitch for a 1998 VW New Beetle TDI
  • The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11066 is what I recommend for a 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle (All Models Including TDI). It has a 1-1/4" opening which is all that is available for this vehicle but I do still have an option to give you the 2" opening. In order to do this you'll need an adapter, the Brophy Hitch Adapter part # HT5R or part # HTAD but please keep in mind these reduce hitch capacity by 50%.

  • Yes, the Thule Passage 2 Bike Rack, # TH910XT, will fit on your 2009 Volkswagen Beetle. The lower arm of the bike rack will rest on the top of your bumper and the straps will attach to the top and bottom edges of your rear hatch. I would recommend using the Thule Adapter Bar, # TH982XT, for your female cruiser bike that does not have a straight bar. The adapter bar will secure to the handle bars and seat of your bike and keep your bike level while driving. Mounting your bike without an...

  • Splice-Free Tow Bar Wiring Lights For Dolly Towing A 2009 Volkswagen Beetle
  • Since there isn't a plug-in tow bar wire harness available for a 2009 Volkswagen Beetle the only option for a splice-free installation would be magnetic lights like the Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights - 20' Wiring Harness with 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # TL21RK. These lights would plug into the 4-pole connector on the rear of the motorhome and magnetically clamp to the roof of your Beetle. You'll drape the cable running over the top of the vehicle and can wrap the excess up and hold it...

  • Availability of 2 Bike Rack for a 2003 Volkswagen Turbo Beetle
  • The Thule and Yakima trunk bike racks are listed for a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle Hardtop, but not for the Turbo model. Because of the spoiler on the Turbo being located at the top edge of your trunk where the top hooks would attach, and it is retractable, is why it is not listed for your Turbo model. Even with your spoiler disabled it is not recommended to use a trunk bike rack on a Volkswagen Turbo Beetle. The spoiler would not be able to handle the loads of the bike rack. If you have...

  • Availability of Cargo Carrier For 2003 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible
  • I would not have any roof cargo carriers or roof cargo bags that would be able to mount to the convertible roof of your 2003 Volkswagen Beetle. The convertible roof is not designed to carry any amount of weight. I would recommend to use a hitch and a hitch cargo carrier to carry any extra cargo on your Beetle. The hitch would be the Draw-Tite Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 24679. This hitch has a 200-lb tongue weight capacity. You will want to check your owners manual or with the...
