I do not recommend using the hook on stabilization strap # 18050 on glass because it could end up damaging the glass on your 1999 VW New Beetle. What you could do, instead of using the hook part, is to replace it with strap # Y02623 or hook the hook part to the loop of this strap.

The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch # 24679 is the hitch for your 2004 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo. Your Beetle is only equipped to support a Class I hitch so you will have to stick with a 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver. You could possibly use an extender to go to a 2 inch but then you would lose 50 percent of your weight capacity of the hitch, which is already only 200 lbs. of tongue weight. I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite about hitch # 24679 and a 2002 VW New Beetle Turbo Diesel. the only model that this trailer hitch will not fit is the Turbo S model. Although the Thule OutWay is shown as a fit for the 2002 VW Beetle, I'm not certain of the fit on the Turbo model with the spoiler. I spoke with my Thule representative, who told me that they haven't tested the rack on a Beetle that's equipped with a spoiler.
